Malcolm P. McNair Professor of Marketing, Harvard Business School; Co-Chair, Social Enterprise Initiative
Kash Rangan is the Malcolm P. McNair Professor of Marketing at the Harvard Business School. Until recently the chairman of the Marketing Department (1998-2002), and a faculty director of the School’s Research Division (2004-2009), he is now the co-chairman of the school’s Social Enterprise Initiative.
His current research is focused on two topics: One to understand the needs and wants of the global poor, those living on less than $5/day. The aim of the research is to capture the lessons of successful models of businesses, nonprofits and governments serving that segment. He studies Impact Investing and Pay for Success contracting as part of this research stream. His second stream of research focuses on how to improve the practice of “corporate social responsibility.”
Rangan has been on the faculty of the Harvard Business School since 1983.
