Managing Director, the Sierra Club
Eva Hernandez has worked for the Sierra Club since 2009 in various roles, most notably spending seven years with its organizing team, supporting and managing staff & volunteers across various regions of the country. Before becoming managing director, Hernandez served as the national program director and on the executive team, working to lead the Sierra Club’s Clean Energy for All work, to further collaboration across campaigns while emphasizing equity and justice to maximize our effectiveness as an organization and partner. Over the years, Hernandez has led and supported many successful community, state, and national campaigns. Hernandez has always worked to create a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive environmental and social justice movement. Since summer 2020, she has served as part of the Sierra Club’s leadership body heading the organization’s transformation and working to allow for more effective power and information sharing as well as decision making. Before coming to the Sierra Club, Hernandez worked for or served on the board of several national environmental and social change organizations, including MoveOn.org, Dogwood Alliance, Green Corps, Building Equity & Alignment Initiative, GoAustin/Vamos Austin (GAVA), and Environment Texas. She believes in the power of people and communities, as she strives to put our equity values into practice every day. To recharge, Hernandez reconnects with nature in the Texas Hill Country or at some swimming hole near Austin, where she’s based with family.
