Rohini Nilekani has been a strong influence in the Indian social sector ecosystem over the past two decades. Today, her philanthropy works across Indian civil society. In the past, she founded Arghyam, a foundation for sustainable water and sanitation, which funds initiatives all across India, and Pratham Books, a non-profit enabling access to reading for millions of children. Currently, she is chairperson of Rohini Nilekani Philanthropies and a co-founder and director of EkStep, a non-profit education platform. Nilekani is a strong proponent of the power of collaboration. She has co-funded many platforms like Co-Impact, India Climate Collaborative and Dasra to deepen bigger and bolder giving. In addition, Rohini Nilekani and her husband Nandan Nilekani are signatories to the Giving Pledge, pledging half of their wealth to philanthropy.
